About

At The Fabric Shop, fabric has been part of our family story for over 40 years.

What began as a passion for beautiful textiles has grown into a business built on relationships, knowledge, and a genuine love for helping people create. As a family-run store, we’ve spent decades learning what makers really need which is quality fabrics, honest advice, and a place that feels welcoming whether you’re sewing your first project or your hundredth.

Because we source much of our fabric ourselves, we’re involved in every step of the journey. From selecting prints and textures we love, to bringing them into store and sharing them with our customers. This hands-on approach means we can offer carefully chosen fabrics that feel current, inspiring, and made to be enjoyed.

Being based in New Zealand also shapes who we are. We’re proud to offer fabrics that reflect the colour, creativity, and cultural richness of Aotearoa and the wider Pacific. From bold island-inspired prints to everyday natural fibres that suit our lifestyle, we love curating fabrics that feel connected to home, to heritage, and to the way people here live and make.

At the heart of it all is family. We’ve built The Fabric Shop on the values that matter most to us care, trust, and community. We believe fabric is more than just material; it’s the beginning of something personal. A special outfit, a handmade gift, a home project, or a piece that tells a story.

We love helping our customers bring their ideas to life, and we’re always open to hearing what you’d love to see next. Whether you’re searching for something classic, something bold, or something that reminds you of home, we’re here to help you find the right fabric for your next creation.
